East Sussex WRAS were called out by British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) early evening on Thursday 16th March to a 38.5kg common seal on the eastern end of Bexhill beach.

Local BDMLR medics were concerned about the seal's appearance and movement, so BDMLR's Operation Director Julia Cable attended and quickly realised she would need extra experienced help to catch the seal. She contacted WRAS's Operations Director and BDMLR Medic Trevor Weeks. Trevor attended on site in one of WRAS's technical rescue ambulances and working as a team with everyone from BDMLR, Trevor was able to jump and secure the seal. » Read more

A wildlife charity has dealt with just under 5100 casualties in the last 12 months, the second highest  number of casualties in the charities 27 year history.

The full day training course was well worth the money, very enjoyable, very educational and eye opening at times. It has given our staff a new appreciation for fire safety as well as when and how to tackle a fire safely. » Read more

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service (WRAS) was called out on Tuesday 29th November to a huge badger which had fallen over 20ft down a wall into a concrete courtyard at the back of a house in Old London Road, Hastings. WRAS sent rescuers Trevor Weeks MBE and Stuart MacQueen in one of its Technical Rescue Veterinary Ambulances from its base at Whitesmith near Hailsham to the scene. » Read more

Dancing on Ice star and Olympic gold medalist Jayne Torvill has voiced her support for East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) and its bid to build a new hospital.

Mrs Torvill moved to East Sussex in 1992 after falling in love with her current house, which is in Heathfield.  » Read more
