A hedgehog came into care from Hailsham after being found with a large wound down the left side of its body. The injury is thought to be from a strimmer or other similar device.

On arrival the poor hedgehogs had to be sedated before WRAS's Care Team were able to fully assess and clean the wound and surrounding tissue.

Luckily for the hedgehog, this life threatening injury was not too deep. If left this hedgehog would definitely not have survived. After cleaning the wound was filled with manuka honey and he was placed onto a course of antibiotics and pain relief.

He required regular sedation and careful wound management but we were amazed at how quickly the wound started to heal!

Just 6 weeks in care and he was fully recovered returned back to the garden where he was originally found.
