An unexpected and both sad and happy ending after these 2 young Roe deer were found running round inside the tennis court at one of our aviary sites and their dead Mum was with them.

Chris and Sylvia from Wildlife A&E attended along side WRAS's Kathy Martyn. It is thought Mum may have been clipped by a car and the youngsters too scared to find their way out and were charging around colliding with the fence.

Chris managed to help one of them find the exit but the 2nd one was much more flighty but tiring and  fell a number of times. As the last young deer stopped to rest Chris, Sylvia and Kathy managed to corner him so Chris could grabbed hold of him. They  then carried the deer outside where he was release and the two young deer then both ran off across the field clearly knowing where they were going.

Luckily they are old enough to fend for themselves, although will be distressed for a while losing their Mum. "They are a bit battered and bruised but the wild is the best place for them being such a stressy species. Great teamwork to get these 2 babies out safely" said Kathy Martyn.
