Pregnant Hedgehog Caught In Netting

Can you spot the baby hoglets?

This hedgehog came into care from Herstmonceux having had her leg tightly entangled in netting.

Due to how tight the netting was and her leg being swollen we have concerns over a ligature injury occuring. She needs to be monitored to ensure no tissue breakdown will occur. We try to ultrasound all female hedgehogs at this time of year to check for signs of pregnancy, and on this occasion she is definitly a soon to be mum.

Hopefully she will recover and be safe to return home before having the babies but just incase she has been moved to our hedgehog maternity unit.
