RIP Michael Lamb

Sadly WRAS rescuer Michael Lamb passed away last night after a battle with cancer. Michael has been rescuing with WRAS for many years and would drop what he was doing to go to the aid of an injured animal. I'll never forget the evening I sent him to rescue a swan on a road at Battle, I was giving a talk in Bexhill at the time and couldn't attend, so off he went and rescued the swan and returned to where I was giving the talk, he walked into a church hall carrying the largest swan I have ever seen under his arm as if it was a complete normal thing to do!

Michael was a great guy and cared passionately about animals and was always texting me to say when he was available to help. Most recently he helped East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service rescue a badger caught in a metal gate at Hastings, which unfortunately died of its injuries later at Hospital. Jenny at the Bat Hospital was amazed at how much of a "natural" he was at handling rescued bats too.

Rest in Peace Michael you will be missed by many.
