Volunteer rescuers from Uckfield and Polegate rushed to the aid of a young juvenile female roe deer caught in stock fencing in Abbots Wood, Arlington near Hailsham on Saturday morning.

Several dog walkers discovered the young deer weighing about 18kg caught in stock fencing in the popular Abbots Wood. East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) send the local ambulance from Polegate to the scene and despatched the specialist large animal ambulance from Uckfield too. » Read more

A children's toy has been used to rescue a sparrowhawk trapped in the warehouse of City Electrical Factors in Bell Lane, Uckfield, last night.

Volunteer rescuers from East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) based at Whitesmith, were called out yesterday afternoon after a sparrowhawk flew inside the warehouse in Uckfield. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service helped rescuers from East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) to free a gull trapped and injured on a roof of a residental home in Hailsham this morning.

Grange Mead contacted WRAS at 7.30am this morning after noticing a gull caught in netting by their chimney. WRAS rescuer Tony Neads was on site within 30 minutes and decided WRAS’s ladders were not good enough, so assistance from the Fire Brigade was necessary. » Read more
