WATCH: Trapped Gull rescue Lewes.

Dash camera captures rescue at Lewes School.

This morning (Monday 12th August), rescuers responded to a juvenile gull that was trapped between the glass of an aerial walkway and the metal of a lower roof at St Pancras School in Lewes, alerted by the staff on site. The gull, basking in full sunlight, might have gone unnoticed and succumbed to the heat if not for the observant staff. Fortuitously, the rescue was recorded by the dash camera of the ambulance. Once the bird was secured, the rescuers examined it and, finding it healthy, released it immediately to its awaiting parents.

East Sussex WRAS is appealing for support to continue attending such rescues throughout East Sussex. The year 2024 is shaping up to be exceptionally busy, and there is a pressing need to expand. The enhancement of our services is reliant on your continued support and donations.
