Fire service assists with roof top rescue.
On 15th April WRAS rescuers rushed to the aid of a gull impaled bya chimney pot in Pashley Road Eastbourne.
Due to the height and difficult access the Fire Service attended and aided with the rescue. Officers from Eastbourne Fire Station had to call in assistance from their Aerial platform in order to reach the bird safely.
Once the bird was rescued it was checked over and found to have injuries to its wing. These were checked over at Vets Now in Eastbourne and found to be more significant that initial thought, meaning euthanasia was the only option to prevent unnecessary suffering.
Saving wildlife from suffering is as important as trying to treat and release them back to the wild. You can help us prevent suffering by supporting our vital community service which now rescues over 700 gulls annually.
