Support & Fundraise

Your passion for wildlife can make a real impact. There are many ways to get involved and make a difference to our precious wildlife.

Whether you are a company looking for a charity partnership or a business interested in raising funds for us, WRAS offers a wide range of ways to involved. Working together we will create a corporate package that achieve all our goals together. We will support your Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) strategy by offering a range of ways to get involved.

Charity of the Year

Employee and customer fundraising. Partnering with WRAS is great for team building, showing your company cares enough and wants to make a difference. We can work with you to create a program of activity for both staff and customers.

Events

These can include big events for example finding places in major runs, bespoke events such as skydives, abseils or canoeing challenges, to small events such as bake sales, dress down days etc.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme that allows people to make regular donations via the payroll for, giving them a tax efficient way of supporting the work of WRAS.

Product Licencing

This offers mutual benefits. A Product Licensing or CRM partnership would demonstrate to your customers and staff your corporate responsibility, could increase sales, improve customer loyalty and foster positive brand association, while at the same time raising essential funds.

Corporate Partnership Opportunities

During the year we have different events that may be available to sponsor, likewise you could sponsor an ambulance, a care assistant or the vet for a year. As part of our planned future hospital, we will also have areas within the building that can be sponsored.

Gifts in Kind

This is a great way to support the animals we care for. A few examples of Gifts in Kind include:

  • End of line stock such as dog & cat food. Or items we can sell through our charity shop.
  • Pro-bono support such as marketing and design experience, time for your staff to volunteer.
  • Raffle or auction prizes for our fundraising events.
  • Materials to help our building and enclosures.

At East Sussex WRAS, our mission is to provide immediate and compassionate care to injured, orphaned, or distressed wildlife in our community. From tiny hedgehogs to majestic birds of prey, every creature in distress deserves a chance at life.

Our volunteers are at the frontline, offering rescue, rehabilitation, and hope. However, we can't do it alone. We rely on the generosity of individuals like you to continue our vital work.

Whether you choose to give a monthly donation or a one-off gift, donating will make all the difference.

Your donation will help us provide care, from our ambulances attending a wildlife rescues, vet care and rescue equipment to warmth, bedding and a safe place to recover.

We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. Any amount you can donate is valuable to us and the animals in our care.

If you are looking for fundraising ideas or need some help planning your fundraising event, then we have advice and resources that will help you make the most of your ideas and will help you achieve your fundraising target. If you already know what you want to do from your own entry in a challenge event, to a skydrive, abseil or run then please contact us. If you want to do you own thing we have some ideas that can be simple and fun.

Whatever you want to do we are here to help and inspire you, your workplace or group. Just get in touch!

Every now and then we get a legacy and more frequently donations in the post via a funeral director where money has been collected for our charity at a funeral instead of flowers or a collection has taken place. We find it really touching that at such a sad time people think highly enough of our humble charity to choose us to make donations.
We have wanted for a while to honour those people. In January 2018, in our reception we erected a “Memory Tree” on the wall, where leaves are being placed to remember those people. These donations are invaluable and make a huge difference in keeping our service on the road so this is the least we can do to say thank you and remember those who, like us, loved wildlife.
Every time we receive donations totalling £25 or more via a funeral directors or receive donations in memory of someone in the post or online, we will place a leaf on the memory tree with their name on.
We welcome family and friends to visit (by appointment) to see the leaf in reception once created. Please be aware that we occasionally have to restrict access to reception if Avian Influenza or another such risk in present in the community.
Much Loved is a dedicated memorial tribute site which offers free pages as well as more advanced paid pages.

By leaving a gift in your Will no matter how large or small, will be a lasting gift, your compassion and kindness will help secure the future of WRAS and the vital service we provide to our wildlife.

Once your loved ones have been provided for please consider leaving a gift in your Will to East Sussex WRAS. (Please state our official title “East Sussex WRAS” and including our registered charity number 1108880).

Making a will does not need to be difficult, however, you may worry about assets to be allocated, to whom and how. Writing your Will gives you peace of mind and removes the burden to your family to take on this task at their time of bereavement. A bequest to WRAS need not affect your families financial stability.

As a charity, all bequests are free from all liability for inheritance tax and can be used to bring the value of your estate below the tax threshold which can be of tremendous benefit for those you leave behind.

There are a number of different types of gift you can make to support the work of WRAS in your will:

  • Pecuniary Legacy a gift of a sum of money (it is possible to add a pecuniary legacy to an existing Will using a simple Codicil document)
  • Residuary Legacy a gift of a share or all of what is left of your estate after all other payments have been made.
  • A specific gift this could be a gift of anything from a piece of jewellery or a property to a selection of shares.

It is important that your Will is legal, we recommend that you contact a professional for help in preparing your will.
