Broken leg mallard duck release... ...

We do like a happy ending...
This male mallard was reported to us at Piltdown Pond having been sat on the side with an injured leg for multiple hours.
Rescues managed to catch contain him and it was quickly apparent he did have a fractured leg .
X-Rays revealed the extent of the fractures. Being a duck they cope extremally well with splints on their legs and we decided to splint and start treatment, allowing this one a chance to heal.
He did amazingly well and after 10 days we managed to remove the splint and allow him to start exercising his leg, and the best type of exercise had to be hydrotherapy!
Fast forward to today and he was given the all clear and was only too keen to return home!
