Jessie set to help support WRAS

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service is set to receive another donation from a local Trust. Jessie's Trust was set up in memory of a liver-spotted Dalmatian, Jessie, who passed away on 2nd February 2008. Jessie's Trust is the flag under which fall all of Lavender & Sage's charitable activities. Lavender & Sage sell a wide range of french decorative home accessories and furniture and are based at Alfriston.

Jessie's owner Mayke Hogestijn, who has always been active on the animal charities front, said: "Jessie's passing engendered a powerful urge in me to do exponentially more, to make her life keep counting. After seeing the great and hard work undertaken by everyone at WRAS we decided to choose them and the Kit Wilson Trust as the current benefactors of the Trust."

Jessie's Day takes place on 30th March, which was Jessie's Birthday. Lavender & Sage donate the total value of all sales placed to the charities supported by the trust. Last year Jessie's Trust donated over £3,500 to WRAS.

Jessie's Trust now sponsors the recovery area at WRAS's Casualty Care Centre, now called 'Jessie's Room', as well as one of the charity's ambulances.

"I can remember meeting Jessie when she was ill at the vets, she was a lovely dog and really made me miss being able to have a dog of my own. Every now and then you get touched by an animal which makes you stop and think about life and the difference you can make to help the community and the casualties encountered by WRAS. The support we now receive from Lavender & Sage is great and really makes a difference in helping WRAS save the lives of hundreds of animals each year" said WRAS founder Trevor Weeks.

WRAS is urging people to visit the Lavender & Sages website and to support Jessie's Day on the 30th March and raise loads of money for WRAS and the Kit Wilson Trust.
