WRAS Rescuers Trevor Weeks and Kathy Martyn have rushed to the aid of a poorly pigeon found in the garden of a house in Newton Road, Lewes this evening.

The pigeon is underweight and appears to be suffering with coccidia and possible other parasitic problems.  This one a several which have been rescued in the area recently causing rescuers concerns.

The pigeon is now being given one-on-one care at Kathy's home in Uckfield where it is being treated and monitored closely.

Rescuers believe that unhygienic birds feeders or feeding areas could be to blame for the problem but say it is difficult to determine the exact cause.
