WRAS to feature in SwitchOn Global Telethon!

Are you a Hedgehog Hero?

The UK will represent the Hedgehog in the SwitchOn Global Telethon Event - World Environment Day, on 5th June at midday.

Children's songwriter Al Start from Go Kid Music, Brighton, is co-presenting the live-streamed event, and will be raising money for Hedgehogs, in collaboration with Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service in Sussex (WRAS). Her children's song Hedgehog Hero has been a hit with local primary school children, who feature in the video premiering at midday on Sat 5th June!

This ground-breaking event will include over 100 performers, storytellers, keynote speakers, wildlife presenters, scientists, documentary makers from over 25 countries. SwitchOn Global Telethon presents a non-stop 25-hour online event created to unite the world through stories and songs, to raise awareness and funds for some of the world’s most endangered species.  To celebrate World Environment Day, Go Kid Music joins forces with more than 25 countries and artists around the world in a global online event, SwitchOn Global Telethon, on Saturday 5th June.

Al Start will present her song "Hedgehog Hero" in a world premiere video with many school children, along with an exclusive film all about hedgehogs and how we can help save them. All the money the UK section will raise, will go to WRAS in Sussex -Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service- to support them to help more wildlife.

The British "Hedgehog Hour" will take place at 12 - 1pm , and it will be hosted by Al Start, children's songwriter based in Brighton, UK, who produces music for families. The UK's vulnerable species is the hedgehog, one of the most endangered animals right now in our country.

" This ground-breaking global event is the first of its kind!" says Start, "We are taking a positive approach, to let children and their families know what they can do in their own homes, schools and neighbourhoods to help nature flourish and save endangered species."

Wildlife vet Paul Ramos (Nat Geo Channel) and Irish songwriter Kyle Riley will also be introducing species from Scotland and Ireland.

"In this time of uncertainty, children are feeling worried that our world is doomed - that is not the case! There is so much we can do as individuals that all adds up to huge, global change. That is what we are going to show in the SwitchOn Global Telethon. See what happens when we work together!"

Watch live from 12 midday on Saturday 5th June and all donations in Hedgehog Hour go directly to WRAS to help poorly hedgehogs.

Launching at 11am AEST in Australia (2am UK), the telethon event will then move to New Zealand, Asia, India, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and back to Australia via the Cook Islands and Antarctica, to conclude at 12pm AEST, uniting the world through stories and songs to raise awareness and founds for 25 endangered species.
